Was in W98.general discussion and tried to send a reply with two
attachments. Message too big and not sent. Tried again with one attachment.
Same problem. Keep getting this pop-up OE message showing these two
attempts.

"Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject ' W98 compatible
avi media player?', Account: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Server:
'msnews.microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '437 (648) Transfer
Failed - Do Not Try Again -- The Article is too large', Port: 119,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 437, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9"

Same error message for both attempts.
How do I clear those attempts and/or get rid of the recurring message?

Delete the post from Outbox.

An attachment adds a markup of roughly 35% to an email or post (e.g., a 75KB
attachment to a 1KB post gives you a 102KB message). The max message size
for posts to MS newsgroups is ~100KB, IIRC.

Didn't know I had an outbox. Tried 'search'ing and 'find'ing, tools, file,
help, etc. but can't seem to find it.
I use Hotmail for e-mail and OE for newsgroup Q&As only and know little else
about it.
Where might the outbox be hiding out?

The Outbox is under Local Folders, along with Drafts, Sent Items and
Inbox. If you don't see them and there is a + in front of Local Folders
in the Folder List, click the + to expand the list.

If you don't see the Folder List, you can add it via View, Layout.

Bingo! Now that I know its there, maybe I'll start using it on purpose.
Maybe even a 'drafts' folder for when I forget (or don't know) what I'm
