Not even a message header to double click on? Can you see messages in other
folders? View | Current View. Make sure Show All Messages is checked. If that doesn't do it, you may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages from the old identity and delete it. Bruce:
1) I can see the messege headers, but When I double click on them oe just hangs up on me. 2) I tried the new identitiy trick and the new identitiy has the same sympthom. 3) I think oe is not loading correctly, I am saying this because if I double click another folder or try to perform another function or OE also hangs up on me. 4) I have my OE view set up with headers on the top pane and preview pane on the bottom part where I use to see message content, WHen OE loads I still see headers on the top part but the bottom part is blank, it does not matter what header I double click on. Try these possible fixes in their order.
1: Go to: StartRunType in, or copy & paste: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll - Press: Enter. {Note the space after 32}. If the problem reoccurs, download CWShredder and run it after doing the fix again. http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html 2: In OE: Tools | Options | Read | Fonts. Choose: Western European (ISO). 3: See this to repair or reinstall IE6/OE6: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 Although written for WinXP, it works for all Windows operating systems 98 or newer. If you are using WinXP/SP2, and it was not already on your computer from the factory, you will have to remove SP2 first. How to remove SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;875350 See this article. It says OE5, but applies to OE6 too. 4: Outlook Express Stops Responding and Your Pointer Appears as an Hourglass: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=259927 And: Outlook Express Stops Responding or Does Not Start: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=274017 -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Jorge" wrote in message ... Hello Bruce:
1) Tried the regedit32 trick one time, ....No luck 2) Downloaded CWshredder, ran it and removed what seem to be two variants of the virus.....Ran regedit32 again.... no luck. 3) CHanged Font to western european (ISO).....No luck 4) Tried the identity test recommended in one of your links (exported both idenitites from the registry to the desk top and tried each one individually again and both show the same sympthom.... OE stops responding and pointer becomes an hourglass. DOes this mean both identities are bad and I have to re-create them again? or it means this is not an identity issue and I have no remedy but to re-install Win XP SP2. I would go ahead and do the R&R. It takes about 40 minutes, most of which is
wait time, and it does not erase any data. That said, it is always a good idea to back up OE regularly anyway.
