Hiya,
I'm running an AMD Athlon 2400+, 512M ram, 1/40G HD, 1/80G HD ... 40G has 98SE, 80G has XP Pro sp2/all updates as dual-boot on DSL ... Had IE6 OE5 on 98 ... added 80G+XP, worked to get OE to run in both systems, sharing the mail store to avoid confusion ... that works well, but XP/OE won't show images in email I recieve ... 98/OE does ... neither had the checkbox on security/options to allow show images ... upgraded to OE6 on 98 first, 98OE still ok, XP still no joy ... or checkbox ... tried to run IE/OE6 setup tool again from XP, said newer version already installed, yadda yadda .... found trick (run command with /Q switch) that allowed installer to briskly download and install what looked like (whizzed by) exception pack ... still no checkbox in either system, 98 still shows images, XP does not ... Any ideas on how to hack it up to show checkbox or just show images in XP? Thanks, Angus |

Review the info in this article about how to reinstall IE/OE in XP:
How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q318378 Make sure you disable any antivirus program prior to doing the reinstall. Your "forced" install via the /Q switch may well have corrupted your installation and made it impossible to repair any other way. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Well ... thanks Jim ... already read that ... don't think I like
re-installing sp2 ... fairly customized system, afraid it'll "screw the pooch" ... was hoping for a reg hack, or at least a pointer to a key that I might modify to show the dang checkbox, or hack the reg to accomplish the equivalent of checking the box ... As mentioned earlier, you may have already have "screwed the pooch" by your
prior efforts. So if you don't want to go the recommended route, I really don't know what else to suggest other than good luck. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 "Angusdhu" wrote in message ...
