If you recently downloaded the patch KB911567 see the following link.
Disregard that it does not mention your problem. www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#14 Reboot after uninstalling. If you have not downloaded that patch, or removing it did not fix your problem, then: From: http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/directdb.htm Errors in DIRECTDB.DLL or MSOE.DLL generally indicate corruption in the message store. Start by moving Folders.dbx to an empty Windows folder. You will lose your folder hierarchy and the lists of newsgroups on the news servers, but it might get you into OE. Note: The DBX file are hidden files in Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3. If that doesn't do it then move all of the DBX files to the same folder as Folders.dbx. You should now get into OE. Try importing the messages from the folder you moved the DBX files to. If you can't, you can use one of these tools to extract the messages: DBXtract: http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx DBXpress: {much faster for large files} http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx Note: It can take a long time (days with really large folders). The messages can then be dragged from the Windows folder back into a folder in an open instance of OE. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Rocco1" wrote in message ... steve and bruce
I do not believe there was an update either as I did not find one when we trouble shot last night. We moved all the .dbx files to a different windows folder and attempted to start OE6 and it worked. All I needed to do was import those files back into OE6. Did that to all files except the inbox one or folders.dbx. first we made a copy of it then attempted to import it back. when I did that the same message appeared. seems that this is the messed up one. will need to download the dbx xtractor software to attemt to recover it. will try that tonight as it was getting late and we lost enough sleep over this issue. LOL hope it works. back in business though. what a live and learn experience this has been as I will now backup emails of importance. THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR HELP very much appreciated -- Rocco "Steve Cochran" wrote: I don't think there was a download for Win9x or WinMe. Make sure you do points 2 and 3 he www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx in the
future. The update was not for WinMe or lower, so you definitely didn't get it. They say in the KB article for the update. steve "Rocco1" wrote in message ... steve and bruce I do not believe there was an update either as I did not find one when we trouble shot last night.
