Does anyone know of a OE archive/read utility?
I have a slew of .dbx backup files but to access them I have to bring them into OE and some of them are big. OE freaks out. A utility that would put the attachments into their own subdirectory, that would let me read and search. Maybe cough out email addresses. |

Create a folder on your Desktop, then in Outlook Express open the folder
with the messages you want to save. Highlight one message, then Ctrl+A will highlight them all, (or hold the Ctrl button down while you select only the messages you want), Now, drag and drop them to the folder on your Desktop. (Easiest if the folder shortcut is on the Taskbar). Now you can copy that folder to a CD and you will be able to read the messages on the CD by double-clicking on them. The downside of this is that messages that have the same subject will be overwritten. To avoid this, purchase: DBXtract: http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ wrote in message oups.com... Try OE reader from this link:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/dbxviewer.html Don't know how well it works but you can try it and let us know. As far as extracting attachments, you can try OEX, but is not free: http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks
I've been saving the .dbx files for a few years. I'd have to load them into OE to do the first thing you mentioned. I'll take a look at DBXtract. jk |

Its a great program. You can point to a dbx file on a CD and import it into
OE and then click a button and remove all the attachments. steve /plug wrote in message oups.com... I'll take a look at OEX Thanks jk |
