Default KB911567 update

I read in another newsgroup message about problems caused by the update
KB911567. I've also had trouble with corrupt phone book and I can't reply
to messages or combine news messages. Could this be my problem? If it is I
did go to add/remove programs and was going to remove it but if I do a
remove message comes up "If you remove this update the following might not
run right KB900485, KB908531, KB911562, KB912812. Will it be alright still
to remove KB911567? Thanks.

Default KB911567 update

I think MS just added that to discourage removal. It is not on my machine
and will never be until they fix saved eml files so they do not appear as
already sent.

IMHO, remove it.

Default KB911567 update

And if functionality is lost, one can reinstall if needed, which is
unlikely.

Thanks Bruce. That took care of the problem. Would you happen to know what
these updates were for?

Default KB911567 update

As far as I can tell, to fix a problem that didn't need fixing.

Default KB911567 update

As far as I'm concerned, the update was totally unnecessary. The patch would
prevent people from opening address books sent to them unsolicited as an
e-mail attachment. A monkey wouldn't open that.

In doing so, they also removed the ability to save an eml file as unsent.
One step forward, two steps back.

Here's the official article:

Default KB911567 update

In OETips #14 the last Para states:

" Custom install and then uncheck that 911567 update. Then when prompted
select never to ask again about this update."

After replying in this manner, can one reset the automatic updates back to
automatic install?

Considering that it's a good idea to disable your AV before installing
*anything*, including updates, to avoid a corrupt installation, it would
be better to set at download but ask before installing.
