I am a novice in these matters so please be precise in your reply.

Graphics? You should be able to change the scan settings, i.e. scan to 50%
of original size etc. If necessary, scan the graphic to your HDD and use
your photo imaging program to resize it and then insert it into a new
message.

If you do not have a photo imaging program, you can download InfranView
(free) at:
www.irfanview.com
or:
http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html

You have to check the instructions for your scanner settings. This has
nothing to do with OE.

OE displays every pixel.
Scan at 100 dots per inch.

I have since found out that the resolution default setting on the Brother
DCP-117C is 300 x 300 dpi. By resetting the resolution to 100 x 100 dpi. the
problem is solved.
