Easy way...

1. Open OE
2. Select (highlight) what you want to save. Ctrl + A selects all
3. Drag the lot to a folder, You can then Burn that folder or its contents
to a CD

I burn CD/DVD's all the time. I even have the equipment to, and do, transfer
my video tapes to DVD so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with burning. For some
reason I can not get this 'Easy Way' to work with trying to save my messages.
I would love to be able to get this to work because I'm trying to get my
messages off of my hard drive. If anyone knows how I can accomplish this or
what the problem could be, since I'm not able to get this to work, please let
me know. I have some messages from a relative who is now deceased and I DO
NOT want to lose her messages. I am desperate to get these messages saved.
Thanks for any help I can get with this.

Default HOW CAN SOMEONE SAVE (or backup) THE E-MAILS FROM OUTLOOK INTO

To backup messages to a readable CD:

Create a folder on your Desktop, then in Outlook Express open the folder
with the messages you want to save. Highlight one message, then Ctrl+A will
highlight them all, (or hold the Ctrl button down while you select only the
messages you want), Now, drag and drop them to the folder on your Desktop.
(Easiest if the folder shortcut is on the Taskbar).

Now you can copy that folder to a CD and you will be able to read the
messages on the CD by double-clicking on them.

The downside of this is that messages that have the same subject will be
overwritten. To avoid this, purchase:

Thanks Bruce:
As you can see I'm still trying to get this mess resolved. I will get back
to uninstalling the programs you told me too yesterday once I backup my
messages. I will probably be working on this for days but I'm determined to
get it done. Your quick help is appreciated.

It would appear that you missed the folder you created on the Desktop and
just dropped them all there.

Drag the OE window to the right to reveal most of the Desktop, keeping the
folder tree visible. Hold the Ctrl key down while you click on each envelope
to highlight them and then drag the group of envelopes back to a folder in
the folder tree. (You may have to do this in a few steps).

The envelopes will still be on the Desktop, but you should have the messages
back. Make sure, and if they are, you can delete the envelopes.

Now see if my second reply is a better solution.

Default HOW CAN SOMEONE SAVE (or backup) THE E-MAILS FROM OUTLOOK INTO

I did read your latest reply and I thank you for you thoughtfullness. I am no
closer to solving my problems then I was a week ago even after spending the
last 3 days and most of the nights trying to get my messges saved to CD's. I
just keep getting error messages after the burning process has run it's
course and the CD is blank. I did get desperate and put some of my deceased
sister in law's message I really chearish on floppy discs for now but they
don't hold much and I had to use a half dozen of them to save just a few of
her messages. Some of the messages are too large for the floppy discs so
they're not saved yet. I went to the site 'afterdawn' to look for help there
with the and have written for help with the burning problem but they don't
seem to be as fast with responses as these sites. I don't know what else to
do without help. I went to the Nero site to see if there might be updates for
the software but can't tell. I just don't know what else to do in order to
save my messages so I can try to move on to the suggestions about
uninstalling and resinstalling like you suggested in my other thread. If you
were in my area you would have my system. LOL Thanks again.
