If the SMPT mail server is not recognising me as an authorised user, why can
I send e-mail's to everyone else ? I only have one ISP and my anti-virus is
the same as this morning when I could send e-mails to @homecall.co.uk.

Are you connected to ntl.com when sending? If so, check with ntl.com
support. There's nothing wrong with OE.

What if you send your mails using a different e-mail provider, like from
a freebie webmail account at Yahoo or Hotmail? Could be NTL's mail
server isn't configured how Homecall want's it configured (like NTL not
having a valid MX record).

Have you tried configuring your e-mail account in OE so it authenticates
to your SMTP server at NTL?

It was configured that way so I unchecked it after reading ntl's tutorial on
setting up e-mail accounts. Have sent a message to
, which was the address in the returned mail asking
them what is going on but don't know how long I will wait for a response.
Thanks for everyones help, will keep you informed.

You're an NTL customer but you can't call their tech support to ask
e-mail questions?

Looks like NTL's server is sending to 123-reg.co.uk, and their mail server
is rejecting it. I've run nslookup here for homecall.co.uk MX servers, and
it should be sent via Tiscali - looks like NTL's DNS is retrieving the wrong
MX record info (could be that homecall.co.uk has moved it's MX relays from
123-reg to Tiscali recently, and NTL's DNS is still caching the old
records). Try and get to support at NTL to clear their DNS cache for
homecall (good luck! NTL and support don't go well together in the same
sentence unless there's a "no" or "useless" in there too :P)

I had just settled down for a few hours to phone ntl technical support (I
have phoned them before and they are useless) when I decided to try again and
guess what ? It worked :-) Thank's to everyone's suggestions I now know a
little bit more, and you were all a lot nicer that tech support. Bye
