Default OE conflict with recent security patch and general

Hi,
Some weeks ago my OE wouldn't work and after days of frustration following
web based advice to remove & reinstall it, I found a message saying the fault
was due to a MS security patch and I deleted and blocked that and OE worked
again.

I now would like to know if this patch issue has been fixed and if I can
allow security updates back to my computer? (curiously at the time this
happened I got the OE newsgroup on my OE but today when I looked for it it
had disappeared!I have accessed this via IExplorer and I will look to see how
to get the newsgroup back into OE! The joys of computing!......).

I am grateful for any advice and help, thanks

You can search at Google Groups, but it doesn't seem to remember any
previous postings from you.

911567 issues are not yet fixed.

You can install other security patches, but that one, if it messed up OE
before, will still mess it up.

David,
Thanks for your help.Strange that it cannot find my earlier posts as I think
I have used the same name (though I have changed password as I often forget
that!).
I saw an article about this issue on website "Inside Outlook Express-
tomsterdam.com" and have seen Microsofts info on how to get round this
although as tomersdam says this does not seem a simple fix (it alters the
identities in Address book!).

If anyone else has any more up to the minute help or advice I am grateful,
thanks

Hi Steve
Hoped you might come in - so it would appear that the update didn't help
everybody, though I do seem to remember reading that a few bothered to let
us know that the update 26 April had worked.

Thanks,Antioch,David & Steve,
It seems there is no straightforward fix to the problem this security patch
caused.
In the light of all this information I will try & decide what the best
action for me to take will be! It does seem odd that a MS security patch can
be released causing another problem that is not fully rectified by them
later.Still, perhaps it is not that easy?
Best wishes to you all :-)

Sorry to hear that - but do keep an eye on this group and
general/basic/newusers, where these updates have been discussed, thats
if/when you have managed to get back into the newsgroups.
If it is resolved, the solution is bound to be posted.
