Hi Joy,

A qualified no, from what I've been reading. Wal-Mart offers two brands of
AOL service, AOL (broadband offering) and Netscape for dial-up. It's hard to
get to the bottom of things, but Netscape appears to be a very basic
offering with Web-based e-mail only. The AOL broadband offered at Wal-Mart
may include IMAP accounts that can be used with Outlook Express.

There are good low priced (dial-up) ISP's that offer a much better Internet
experience -- and POP3 e-mail accounts. There may be a reasonable price for
DSL with the telco in your area, but it's still fairly high in many places.
The basic price for Netscape may lead to a much higher fee if optional
services are utilized, such as Web-Accelerator, spam control or e-mail virus
protection. The price could end up the same as Earthlink without nearly the
same quality of service or features. Also, from what I've read, the Wal-Mart
Netscape browser is full of (Wal-Mart) ads. This can only be good if the
goal of having an ISP service is to facilitate shopping at Wal-Mart.

Your best bet would be to get "Copper.Net" for less than 10 dollars a month.
In case you do (or your friend does), let me know, please.

Harry.
