Default OE Status (bottom right)

Hi all,

I just got a new laptop, and I've set up OE with my account. However, I
noticed that I no longer get the status of the Send/Receive in the bottom
right of the OE window, where before I was getting it.

However, if OE is in the middle of collecting the email and I double click
in that space (now just white) it opens up the status box.

Any idea how I can get the status back in there? I can't find a setting at
all.

TIA

Is OE actually doing anything about sending and receiving? If it isn't the
space will be blank.

I went into View, Layout and Status Bar is checked. However, when OE is
checking email, that space stays white. I know it's working because I hit
Send/Recv button, and when I double click on the status bar (bottom right)
that is completely blank, it DOES open the window that shows the details of
getting/sending emails.

It's weird, I know, I'm not sure why it's not showing anything. I'll try and
uncheck the status bar, and restart OE and check it again and see if that
fixes it.

Default OE Status (bottom right) - also no new email icon

That did not help, the status is still not being shown there.

I've also noticed something else. On my old laptop, I used to get a little
icon indicating that there is new mail, it would show up in the windows task
bar (at the bottom right where the volume icon is, etc). I no longer get
this when there is new mail.

The only difference I can think of is that my old laptop had Windows XP Pro,
and this one I just got is running Windows MCE. This is the version the OE
is showing:

6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

Has MS changed the behaviour of OE??

Your version needs updating. When did you last visit Windows Update?

On Windows Media Center, you should see the image below in the Status Bar after a mail check (assuming you are fully updated):

I've done all the updates available, even optional ones. Didn't change anything in OE, as a matter of fact, I checked the version of OE on the old laptop where it behaves normally and it's the same version as the one on this laptop that is misbehaving - the updates didn't touch OE it seems.

Oh well, thanks anyway.

Do you have any programs installed that may be interfering, such as
antivirus/antispam programs that are scanning your incoming mail? If so,
disable them and try again. They use a proxy to filter your mail and while
it can cause problems sending/recieving, it may also be the source of your
problem.

You were bang-on! The laptop came with the Pc-Cillin AV software that added
the OE anti spam toolbar. After removing this toolbar option from the
Pc-Cillin menu of options the status at the bottom right is there again and
OE behaves as expected.

Thanks for your help. I should have realized right off that this was the
culprit!
