I am using OE on MS Server 2003. I have a considerable amount of mail in my
Inbox but no more than usual. Today while I was in the middle of checking mail, the InBox just disappeared. The deleted mail and sent items are still there. There is also new mail in the inbox. I have checked to make sure the View was for Show All Messages. I also have only 1 identity. I do have my mail backed up on an external Buffalo Hard Drive. I use Norton not Macafee for virus protection. Is my mail retrievable? Any and all help will be appreciated. MS techs wanted $249 to answer the question. -- Rena B |

That suggests your Inbox.dbx file has been corrupted. Search your computer
for all DBX files (they are hidden by the operating systems in Windows 2000 and XP) and see if you have any Inbox files with a number appended, i.e., Inbox(1).DBX, Inbox(2).DBX, etc. If so, those may contain your old messages and any salvageable content can probably be extracted using 3rd party utilities, such as DBXtract from www.oehelp.com For some added info on file corruption and why it happens, please review this article: The Other E-Mail Threat: File Corruption in Outlook Express: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/...orruption.mspx -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.
