Default problem dropping email

I have a problem with outlook express. When I select email and drag them to a
folder so I can drop them in it. It will not longer drop the email into a
folder. No matter which folder it is or on which hard drive. I have no idea
how this happened. Anyone know can I fix it??? Thanks.

Try going to File | Identities and set up a new Identity and then see if the
problem is the same in that Identity.

Does File, Save As to EML file still work?

What version of Windows are you using?

What version of Outlook Express are you using (look in Help, About
Outlook Express).

You mention that this was working for you. Do you recall installing any
software since it last worked, especially any security software?

As you drag the message, does the cursor get a box with a + in it?

Does it change to a circle with a slash through it when you get to the
destination folder?

Do you have any problems dragging messages from one OE folder to another
folder?

Do you have any problems dragging files from one Windows folder to
another Windows folder?

Also check the "system mechanic 6" to see if it has any security
settings restricting dragging files.

Always post your OS and product version information
when you're looking for help. ; }

Sometimes we can infer which one it is if you post using OE
but you're posting using the web interface to newsgroups
so we can't even guess.

What would probably help is an IE Repair (ref. KB194177)

Unfortunately most XP users can't do that any more.

XPsp2 tried to provide an alternative (the /rereg command line switch)
but botched the implementation.

Instead German MVP Kai Schaetzl has prepared a cmd file
which would allow XPsp2 users to mostly simulate a better version
of the /rereg switch's ieuinit.inf repair script.

I'm not sure if he has modified it for IE7 use completely
or how well it will work with other version of IE. I don't think it would hurt
to try it in any case. E.g. if a module is referenced which doesn't
exist on a user's machine the cmd file would essentially ignore
that fact.
