My Outlook Express 6.0 suddenly quit sending forms via Internet Explorer.
The page works fine in Firefox.
It's a standard fill-in-the-blanks form with form action=mailto:myemail.
address method=post enctype=text/plain

The 'Submit' button calls up OE, the To: and Subject: fields are filled in
but the body is blank and there is no attachment.

I had no trouble with either browser until recently... I made no changes to
anything. Deacon

Running the beta of Internet Explorer 7? Is IE7 then selected as your
default browser?

Don't have IE7 Beta, yet... still running IE6 with all updates... Firefox is
my default browser, but I use IE to access some sites. Form works fine with
Firefox... fine meaning I get text in the body from the form fields as
expected. IE sends me an email message with the body blank.

I had a similar, if not the exact, issue a couple years back (of course I'm
have my own issues with OE6 right now so I can't be very exact at this time).
If I remember correctly, there was a security setting in IE that needed to
be reset due to some security update. Check your Internet Options and verify
that everything looks correct and would seemingly allow the information to be
sent properly. I also recall that it had something to do with the method
(GET/POST/etc...) in the code of the form on the page in question. You might
want to look at the source code of the page that contains the form to see
what method is being used, as it potentially could be the underlying reason
for the failure. I also know that the way I worked around this issue was
(since I was the creator of the form I was trying at the time) to make the
form write to a text file at the server level and just send me a notification
of the form contents so that I could view it online on the server.

Hope this helps. In any case, please send any reply/ies to the newsgroup
here so that others with similar issues can use the info as well.

-Dusty

Thanks, Dusty, for your reply... I've checked all my security settings in IE
and also OE. Unless I'm missing something, all settings should allow my form
content to email to me. When I press the "Submit" button on the form, the
address and subject are included in the top of the email message, but there's
nothing in the body, which should be a listing of all the fields in the form,
empty or not. I've never had this problem, before.

This is the start of the form:
form ?subject=Family Fact Sheet" method=post
enctype="text/plain" name="mailtxt" This tag has never changed.

My form is hosted by my ISP, and I have a mirror site in another location
hosted by a free service. I don't think either of them allows FormMail or
cgiemail scripts to run on their servers. How did you get your form to write
a text file at the server level?

I was running my own (Win 2k AS) web-server at the time, and used ASP code to
do it. I can make the code available for you if you like, but it will
undoubtedly take a while to retrieve from archive.
