Is it possible to logon at the Hotmail Web page? Sometimes clearing temporary Internet files and cookies will correct a Hotmail connection problem. Another try is to remove all hotmail DBX files from the OE message store. Do this only if clearing TIF's and cookies doesn't help. TIF's and Cookies Start Microsoft Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click Delete Files. When you are prompted to confirm the file deletion, click OK. Click Clear History, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion. Click *Delete Cookies (if it is present), and then click OK to delete all cookies. *There may be cookies for other sites you wish to maintain to avoid re-entering passwords. A search for (older) Hotmail cookies could be done. Hotmail DBX Files 1) Quit Outlook Express. 2) Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders. Include hidden files and folders in the search. 3) In the Named box, type Hotmail*.dbx, and then click Find Now. 4) For each file that is found, right-click the file, click Rename, and then change the extension to xxx. 5) Close the Find Files window, and then start Outlook Express. 6) Click Send and Receive, and then click Hotmail account. Since I have changed my Hotmail password I am unable to logon using outlook express, I have changed the password in outlook express same to be as hotmail, os is XP, any suggestions is appreciated I tried what you wrote but it fails giving Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'MSN', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Invalid login.', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC32 I am not sure but my hotmail acct is now converted to "windows live mail" , do you thing this could be the reason, IE Tools Internet Options Privacy Sites: type in hotmail.com [and] live.com and Allow Cookies. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org |
