I use the OE Quick Backup utility and notice it doesn't save hotmail that is
in OE, presumably because it's taken to be online. However, not all of it, eg. Sent items, actually is, so I end up losing some emails. What can I do to save the hotmail files? Cheers, Johnny |

Why bother? What you see in your Hotmail folders in OE only mirrors what's
in the same folders at www.hotmail.com. (Messages in Bulk Mail/Junk Mail folder will be deleted after 30 days or when your account size goes over its limit, whichever comes first. Deleted Items is emptied daily.) -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Johnny wrote: I use the OE Quick Backup utility and notice it doesn't save hotmail that is in OE, presumably because it's taken to be online. Whereas I get Hotmail messages in Sent Items in OE, I don't get them in
webmail. I want a copy of them, as well as of another folder that OE QB doesn't copy. Cheers, Johnny "PA Bear" wrote in message ... Why bother? Copies of sent Hotmail messages go to the local Sent Items folder or you move them there? What other folder doesn't OEQB copy? General OE Caveats: - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm. - Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only). - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. Is there any way of getting emails that are online, but not in the Inbox, to download into OE (once Windows has been reinstalled)? If you're referring to your Hotmail account, everything in every folder at www.hotmail.com should download into the corresponding Hotmail folder in OE once Windows has been reinstalled. If you're referring to a POP3 account, every message still on the POP3 Server will download to the local Inbox folder. -- ~PA Bear "PA Bear" wrote in message ... Why bother?
