In Windows 2000, does OE save newsgroups specific for each user?
I'm moving my Win98SE OE saved newsgroups with watched threads over to Win2K, using this article: http://www.insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/store.htm Do I need to log into Win2K with the username I will use with these newsgroups? Or there any flexibility with users and newsgroup access? Can more than one user share the same newsgroup account? Thanks!!! Bill. |

Newsgroups are specific to a particular identity. The folders.dbx file for
each particular identity is quite different and that file is where the information regarding subscribed newsgroups, threads read, etc. is stored. Just copying the relevant newsgroups and folders.dbx to a different identity will not work. As for question 2 about sharing, the answer is yes, with a caveat. The registry files on both machines must be identical, i.e., "clones" of one another. See this link for more info about how to do cloning: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/bu_full.htm -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.
