Hi,
Does this even apply to MS Outlook or any other email client? Akshay. "Alias" wrote: iweb wrote: Hi, I have around 8000 plus emails in my Outlook Express 6 Inbox and around 10000 plus in the Sent Items. I use an IBM thinkpad P4 CPU with Windows 2000 Server as the OS. Many a times while searching mails or opening the Inbox I get an in sufficient memory error and only 4000 or 6000 mails are displayed. Have to re start the machine for all mails from the Inbox to be displayed. Would like to know the following: 1) Why is this happening? Is this a hardware, software or OS error? 2) whats the solution, can outlook express handle this large size of emails or should i migrate to MS Outlook? 3) Can i set a Message rule that all messages I send automatically get copied to a new folder which will reduce new mails in the Very huge Sent Items folder? Please guide. Kind Regards, Akshay. Never archive messages in the default folders such as Inbox and Sent Items. Create new folders under Local Folders for storage. Keep the default folders as empty as you can. Once you've moved your messages out of the default folders, go to Outlook Express at the top of the Folder Tree. Then File/Work offline. then File/Folders/Compact all folders. It may take awhile but do NOTHING until it's through. Each folder should not exceed 100 MB. Alias |
