Don't configure your client to use SSL and it will work just fine. Some other things to consider: You can configure your client to use port 587 instead of port 25. You can use a Yahoo! Public Profile ID (created in the account manager for that account) instead of your at&t Yahoo! HSI email address " to log in. Your login is revealed in the email headers when you use 'smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', or any of the eight other at&t Yahoo! HSI domains. If you log in with your email address, that is what shows up in the headers: | Return-Path: | Received: from rly-xa06.mx.aol.com (rly-xa06.mail.aol.com [172.20.64.42]) | by air-xa01.mail.aol.com (v109.12) with ESMTP id MAILINXA12-6b84462dc64f8; | Thu, 11 May 2006 02:40:42 -0400 | Received: from smtp108.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com (smtp108.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com [68.142.198.207]) | by rly-xa06.mx.aol.com (v109.12) with ESMTP id MAILRELAYINXA62-6b84462dc64f8; | Thu, 11 May 2006 02:40:37 -0400 | Received: (qmail 31931 invoked from network); 11 May 2006 06:40:36 -0000 | Received: from unknown (HELO pacbell.net) with login) | by smtp108.sbc.mail.mud.yahoo.com with SMTP; 11 May 2006 06:40:36 -0000 | From: "N. Miller" I find it more convenient to use 'smtpauth.sbcglobal.net', myself. Like 'smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com' (or 'smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com', which is my designated server), 'smtpauth.sbcglobal.net' listens on port 587, requires the full email address as a user name on login, and does not expect SSL. Unlike the 'yahoo.com' servers, though, this one does not show your email address in the headers, nor will it work with a Yahoo! Public Profile ID. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
