I see this intermittent sending problem on one of the 4 news servers
that I use, annoying true, but it is a server problem.
Going to the Outbox will change nothing, pure coincidence I would say?

Have you compacted your message store? Those delays are caused by
bloated .dbx files.
Select Outlook Express in the folder treefile menuwork offlinefile
menucompactall folders. Do not touch the machine until compaction
completes.

I have this happen all the time so I don't read the error anymore. There
are also problems with the news server so multiple problems are present
which adds to the headache. I am always getting a message to wait for
compression so I have the messages appear on one monitor while the
compression message is viewable on another. Before I would be waiting and
not seeing that question window waiting for my response. I know I will just
have to take some time just to debug the problems and not care about getting
the group posts out as soon as possible. Sucks if you are expecting a chat
like conversation in semi-real-time.
