Default Problem forming groups in address book

I am having trouble forming groups in my address book. I have Outlook
Express 6, and have been forming many groups for quite some time, but
now, when I try to form a group, I get the error message "Unable to
complete this operation due to insufficient disk space. Please free
some disk space and try again." This is is way off base, because I have
plenty of disk space. I've tried to solve the problem by cleaning all
the temp files off the computer, compacting everything, checking for
viruses and spyware, defragging, and other forms of maintenance, but
nothing seems to work. I'm up to date on all security updates except
one, KB911567, which I'm afraid to install because it caused so much
trouble earlier on. Anyway, this problem is really causing trouble, as
I doing ongoing promotional work for a book published this year, and
I'm really stuck right now.
Thanks,
Susanne

Address Book is corrupt or there is that possibility if you have a lot of
addresses in it, it could be full. I never bother to find out the max number
of addresses in it.

Creating a new address book is easy but with groups involved, it's a PITA at
times.

START | Run
type in

wab /new

You can create a new Address Book WAB file then import the old one into the
new one (if corruption will allow it) or copy and paste the addresses in
(and be prepared to hit YES alot).
You can then cvreate the groups then copy and paste into those as well.

Default Problem forming groups in address book

Hi Susanne,

I wonder if there is a limitation to the amount of groups that can be added
to the Windows Address Book?

As the Windows Address Book is an accessory installed with the operating
system the problem should only be associated with it, other programs like
Outlook Express and Microsoft Works use the Window Address Book.

On the Desktop choose Start, select Programs, on it's expanding menu select
Accessories, on it's expanding menu choose Address Book.

The Address Book stores it's information in a .wab file.

I export this file often to save as a backup in case the original gets
corrupt. Export and Import is available under the File menu of the opened
address book.

If one removes their .wab file from it's folder, the Address Book will
create a new blank .wab file when opened.

These are just some thoughts,
Ken
