Is the entire e-mail never received? Or just the image?
What happens if you send it to yourself? Is the image visible in Sent Items? If it was, then it was received by your ISP intact and the problem lies from that point on. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "blackwdl" wrote in message ... If the message makes it to the Sent Items folder, then OE got
confirmation from the SMTP mail server that it got the message. I presume that messages make it OK if they don't include the inserted image. That means that something is filtering based on content, rather than a bad e-mail address. Are you doing Insert, File Attachment or Picture? If you try the other does it work? Since you have a problem sending to yourself, the first place to look would be outbound virus scanning. If you enable that in your anti-virus program, it inserts itself between Outlook Express and the real SMTP mail server. It tells OE that it is the mail server and may tell OE that it has accepted the message when it may later block it as a virus. Disable the outbound virus scanning. The other place it could be filtered out would be the recipient's spam or virus filtering, either on their ISP's mail server or their PC. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "blackwdl" wrote in message ... ok, the message does go to the sent items, and seems as if it goes through.
But when it has a image inserted into the body of the email the message is never recived. Like it disapears, it works fine when there is no pics inserted. I know its not a problem with the size of the pic. Also attaching the image works fine to. The image is visible in sent items we tried uninstalling the nortons, and disabling it, since i cant even send it to myself it doesnt seem like it is being caught by a spam filter. It is using html and the send pic with message is also checked "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, OE/WM" wrote: "blackwdl" wrote in message ... You may want to record an smtp.log which will show more details about
outgoing mail. To create an SMTP.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Mail You may need to close OE after doing the send for the log to get written to disk. The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. Send the same picture twice, once Inserted and once attached and see if there is any difference in the log. You may want to try contacting your ISP to see if they can track the message on their SMTP mail server. Depending on the ISP, they may or may not be helpful. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "blackwdl" wrote in message ... ok, the message does go to the sent items, and seems as if it goes through. Turn off any anti-spam program. Turn off email scanning in your anti-virus. It provides no added protection. After doing so it may be necessary to reset the server names in OE. The Other E-Mail Threat: File Corruption in Outlook Express Published: November 18, 2004 By Tom Koch http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/...orruption.mspx Email scanning slows down Sending and Receiving, sometimes enough that OE times out. Since some of the received messages have large (often virus) attachments, which exasperates the problem. Some Comcast users have found it necessary to totally uninstall Norton and switch to the free AVG with mail scanning off. Norton invented email scanning and here's what they say: "Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions." http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...256c7500723cf0 "...your computer is protected if Auto-Protect is enabled. Auto-Protect scans any incoming files, including email attachments, when the files are saved to your hard drive." http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01100907323806 "NAV provides multiple layers of protection. Email scanning is just one of those layers. Even if you are not running Email Scanning, your computer is protected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments by NAV Auto-Protect. Auto-Protect will scan any incoming files, including email attachments, as they are saved to your hard drive. The newer stuff doesn't have the statement included as it was considered an embarrassment. If you know anyone who programs for Norton try to get them to talk about it. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, OE/WM Please reply in newsgroup. |
