I've tried everything to block spam in my OE 6 mail account. Block sender,
create rule from message, they still get through around 25 a day??? Any ideas? Will the new release of Vista address this problem? Thanks, Duke |

Fortunately there are very many programs and online services available
to help you with blocking spam. You can find reviews and extensive discussion of spam blocking -- and even more important: avoiding spam in the first place - on the internet. Start with the major PC e-zines, like PC Magazine (www.pcmag.com), CNet (www.cnet.com) and PC World (www.pcworld.com). Bear in mind that nothing is 100% effective against spam. In addition to what the others have said, Windows Mail (the replacement
for Outlook Express in Vista) will have junk mail filtering similar to what Outlook does. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Duke" wrote in message ... Will the new release of Vista address this problem? Thanks, Duke Also check with your ISP to see if they provide that service for you. Mine does have the full spam blocker - and it is very effective. If they do then you can go into you mail box on their site from time to time(once a week at least) and just double check they have not held onto any genuine emails. Most ISPs will delete your mail box of held spam after 7 days. If you are getting the .gif type spam then message rules will not help, and neither will some ISP if they do have the latest software. It is my understanding that not all spam blocker progs will stop the .gif either. If the spam emails are normal then there are plenty of good progs to help filter - as you have already been given. Will the new release of Vista address this problem? Thanks, Duke I get around 400 a day and I don't consider deleting them a problem. I do have some message rules for the most egregious ones. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Reply in newsgroup "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security" |

Yeah, but I use it for business, so I can't just wipe out the messages.
