![]() "Ken_B" wrote in message news:s2Uog.93682$IZ2.19715@dukeread07... I get tons of spam that is HTML only....no text. Virtually all legitimate HTML e-mail contains text also. There seems to be no option under message rules for blocking email with no text. I would like them to not be downloaded from server. Any ideas on how to block these? Hello Ken There are only two ways, that I am aware of, to stop HTML or the .gif type spam emails from arriving in your in-box. 1. Use an ISP who do it for you - more and more are getting this software - Brightmail have something to do with it 2. A very long winded method which I read in these groups and which is reported as 'working' - use message rules to block any message that 'does NOT contain the letter "a"' Then work through the alphabet - yes 26 rules!!!!!!!!!!!! I am fortunate to have an ISP that does filter ALL spam including the .gif photo style of spam i.e. stock market and medicines and betting. Once a week I go to my mail box and clear all the crxp out and send genuine messages to my in box. Hope this is of some assistance. I think more pressure should be bought to bear on the ISPs to get their fingers out and provide this service. It appears to me that most are still doing very little to stop, prevent or deter spamming. Rgds Antioch |

Hey, that a-b-c etc thing sounds like a good idea! I might try that.
The spam in question is being sent to email addresses ONLY used on eBay and PayPal. I have no idea how those addresses wound up on spam lists. I have made message rules to delete any mail to those accounts that do not contain the words eBay or PayPal, and that seems to be working. Thanks for all for the replies. Ken Hi Ken I do not use ebay or paypal - is this how you think your email address was obtained? - my understanding is that email addresses are obtained in all sorts of different ways. Good luck anyway. Rgds Antioch |

Messages from eBay and PayPal contain the email
addresses of buyers and sellers so they can contact one another. "antioch" wrote in message ... "Ken_B" wrote in message news:AOwpg.93778$IZ2.40615@dukeread07...
