A client reports that when they attach a file to an email (OE6), often (but
not every time) the recipient receives several copies of the email and attachment. Each time they've sent one to me as a test, I've received only one so I don't have more details. This problem only started recently and there have been no recent changes to their OE6 etc. Any ideas? |

They sending you the same attachment?
Have them check: Tools | Accounts | Mail | account name | Properties | Advanced tab See if "Break apart mesages larger than ___ KB" is checked and have them uncheck it. Are they scanning outgoing email with an antivirus program?
Have them turn the email scan off. -- Ron Sommer "Mick Ruthven" wrote in message ... Thanks for the suggestions. They checked the "Break apart messages" setting
and it wasn't checked. I'm waiting to hear if they're scanning outgoing mail with an antivirus program. Any other ideas? "Mick Ruthven" wrote in message ... More information. I finally received a problem message from them. The 1MB
jpg file attachment was broken up into 8 messages, each containing the coding of the file but no attachment. Note that the "Break apart messages" setting on the sender's Outlook Express was not checked. A part of the information in each of the 8 messages said "This is a multi-part message in MIME format." The 1MB file was a CMYK jpg file. I'm having them zip it and then send it as a test. RGB jpg files seem to be sent as attachments OK. Are there some types of files that just won't get sent correctly as one attachment? "Mick Ruthven" wrote in message ... No because I had to receive the messages in my web-based Yahoo mail account
because of a separate problem of that person not being able to successfully send to my regular email accounts. I've now given him other email addresses to try that I can receive in OE. Each account in OE has its own Break Apart option. So if there is more
than mail account in OE, you need to check all of them. Also, are they starting a new message in OE and then attaching the file, or are they doing a right click Sent To or sending via some other program such as a scanner or image editing program? In the latter cases, the send might be using a different identity in OE than they think is being used, or even a different mail program. Whether the JPG is a RGB or CMYK can make a difference as to whether or not OE can display the image. But it shouldn't affect the sending of an attachment. - OLEXP: Image May Not Appear in Message Received with Outlook Express http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=246186 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Mick Ruthven" wrote in message ...
