Default Can't click one mail links

If I try to click or double click on a link within an HTML email it does
not open. It just shows the URL in the status bar but my browser never
opens. Is there any way to fix this?

Default Can't click one mail links

From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut)
and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If you get a blank page:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.

4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article:

http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers/26.html

5. If you are using WinXP try this:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE...lt_Browser.reg

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.

I tried all and restarted and still not working. I don't think its the
default browser link because if I view a message as plain text I can click
on the links and they work. Its only when I view messages as HTML.

Its all HTML messages in HTML format that don't work. I have OE set to
view messages in text mode. If I click on those links they work. As soon
as I choose from the menu View-Message as HTML the links stop working.
Also if I try and use regular Outlook on that same machine the links DO work
when viewing in HTML.

I followed all those KB's and it still does not work.

Are you using OEQuoteFix? I've seen that have some wild effects on links in
OE.

You're not using OE7 Beta by any chance?

As Michael pointed out, the inconsistency is the strange part.

You can try re-registering these dlls. It may not help, but it won't hurt
anything.

Start | Run | type, or Copy/Paste, these in one at a time and try again.
(Note the space in each command).

regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll

In IE, go to: ToolsInternet OptionsPrograms. Click: Reset Web
Settings - (uncheck box for homepage) - Click Yes.

Default Can't click one mail links

I know this is old but I found out what the problem is.

For some reason all my links are being blocked as popups. If I hold the
Ctrl key down when I click on the HTML link then the page opens.

I don't know how it started or how to stop it but it is actually a good
security enhancement now that I know how it works. Now I don't have to
worry about accidently clicking on an advertisement in my email.

Thanks for the suggestions.
