Default ".dbx" files

Can anyone tell me how I can open and read a file with the extension ".dbx"?
Basically I was told that if someone is accessing email through Outlook,
rather than through the web, windows will save all emails in hidden files
with the extension ".dbx". I found the files and now I want to open them and
read them. What is the right way of reading a dbx file?

Outlook Express is the tool that reads those files. If you could open up
Inbox.dbx, you would see what is in your Inbox now.

DBX files are used by Outlook Express (if using Outlook97/98/2000+ it
uses PST files).

DBX files are not intended to be opened directly. Open Outlook Express
and it will access the active DBX files. Each mail folder and newsgroup
that you have in Outlook Express has a corresponding DBX file.

If you have an orphan DBX file, you can get it into Outlook Express by

If you really must see what's in a DBX file use DBXtract (www.oehelp.com -
$5) to extract the messages to an empty Windows folder.
