Hi Bluefish49,
The account is not configured correctly. Compare the server name given in the error message with the server name for the account. The name might have been changed by a 3rd-party spam or virus filtering (message scan) feature. Disable such filtering (if in use) and change the name for the POP3 (Incoming) server, then check to see if mail can be received. Normal anti-virus system scan will still fully protect a PC without message scan enabled. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Bluefish49" wrote in message ... You need to contact your ISP to find out the appropriate settings for your
POP3 mail server, or they may have a web page that gives you that information. Since you don't tell us what ISP you are connecting to, we can't really be of much help other than to advise you that the setting you show for a POP3 server name of "POP3" is most likely not correct and you have made an error creating the account. The message is telling you that when it states "The host POP3 could not be found" since there is no mail host at that location. -- Jim Pickering MVP-Outlook Express/Windows Mail Please reply to newsgroup only so that others may be helped with your feedback. 'POP3' is not a normal name for a mail server. Unless it exists in your ISP DNS system, or a local DNS system, it is an invalid host name. Any server name you enter into MS Outlook Express must resolve to an IP address, or MSOE _will_ fail to connect. Your ISP should be able to supply the appropriate information. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
