Default Compacting folders problem

Hi,
Every time I try to compact my folders I get this error message:
"The folder is currently in use by outlook express or by another
application."
Tried compacting while off line and the same problem.
I run Windows XP.
any help, greatly appreciated

Having the same problem for the last couple of days, never happed before.



The message tells you which folder is involved. If it's Folders.dbx ignore
it.

Since you have WinXP SP2 you will want this update:
There are two articles, KB918766 and KB918651, but the latter is not
currently available. The download link is
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

It places the backup in Recycled, overwriting any earlier backup of the
sane folder(s). To use it, copy it to the store folder, delete the one you
want to replace and then rename the BAK file to DBX. (It's a bit more
complicated if the messed up DBX file isn't there or contains messages that
are new that you want to keep.

There is a Microsoft KB article with more information on restoring backup
files from the Recycle Bin.

All e-mail items may be missing when you start Outlook Express 6 Service
Pack 1
