Is it possible to extract members from a group to send an email to? I have a
very large group and I only want to send an email to a small portion. These
email addresses are not part of the main contact list, they only exist in the
group.

Nope but you cancreate a smaller group using only those people.

How do I create the group other than retyping the addresses? I can't seem to
copy and paste them.

In the Address Book, View, check Folders and Groups.
Expand the folders until you can highlight a group.
Now the group members will show in the right pane.
Hold down the Control key and left click on several addresses.
Control + C
Create a new group. OK
Highlight the group in the left pane, right click in the right pane, Control
+ V.

When I click on the group name in the left pane, the names do not show up in
the right pane. Is this because they are not part of the main contacts?

Are you using the left click?
You just want to highlight the group.

What Ron said will work. If you can't copy and paste from there try
dragging and dropping into the new group.
