Morning Steve,
I uninstalled Defender and did everything else that you stated. Rebooted and it worked. I went back into msconf and enabled most of the stuff on my startup, rebooted, tried to forward and it wouldn't work. Obviously, there is something in my start up that is causing this. So, I went back into msconfig and enabled Zone Alarm and AVG, rebooted again and tried forwarding something on OE6. It worked the first time but would not the second time. I have tried it a few times since and it is not working again. I am really afraid not to have my AVG or Zone alarm going. Not being able to have OE6 is bad enough, but for the rest of the system to go down because of a virus or malware is downright scary. -- gbodd "Steve Cochran" wrote: Try uninstalling Defender and then go to Start | Run and type msconfig and disable any startup items. Kate, Steve, Jim and Bruce
I think it has been fixed now. I have un-installed Spamfighter & re-installed Defender. Have also left off all of the unnecessary programs on msconfig startup. It has been a long two weeks and I do so appreciate the help that all of you gave me. Couldn't have done it without you. Now, if any of you know a good, free spam fighting program that I can have for my email (Charter Cable), I'm open to suggestions. Charter doesn't do a thing to help their customers out, believe me. No, I haven't disabled or uninstalled Defender Yes, I have created a new identity. That doesn't work either. Only reason I haven't done the R&R is I was afraid I would screw it up. SP2 did not come with the disc (computer 3 yrs. old), so I will read what you sent and go on and dive into it. -- Glen "Bruce Hagen" wrote: As I said, IE7 has no relationship with Outlook Express, so that is not an answer for an e-mail problem. I found your OP in another identity. In your OP, you said if you inserted a graphic in a new message and sent it to yourself, it came through OK. And if you forwarded that e-mail, it also worked OK. It still sounds like a problem with the senders, or a program your e-mail server uses, which you have not mentioned, is causing this. What was not answered in your OP was: 1: Did you get rid of Windows Defender? 2: You were also advised to try a new identity. Did you? 3: An R&R of IE/OE was suggested, but you said you didn't want to do it. Why? If you are using WinXP/SP2, and it was not already on your computer from the factory, you will have to remove SP2 first. It pertained to me not being able to forward anything that had graphics/pictures in it. Not only does it do this on the 'forward', but if I am to reply with senders message & graphics/pictures to what has been sent to me, it is the same thing. I get the message ' When you send this message, these pictures will not be included'. You and Jim P. tried everything possible to find a solution, but nothing worked. I even installed IE7Beta 3, which I like. I'll try anything at this point. How would I un-install OE6 and start off from scratch? The easiest way would be great. All I want is to have my OE6 working correctly. Thanks for your patience -- gbodd "Bruce Hagen" wrote: Please include all previous posts in your replies, or we do not know what was suggested or tried. qp Can I use my XP disc to get rid of IE7 & OE6 and let it go back to IE7? /qp That makes no sense at all. Get rid of IE7 and OE6 and go back to IE7??? IE6 is a part of your OS and OE6 is a part of IE6. You cannot get rid of them. You can get rid of IE7, which is still in the testing mode, and use IE6. I would do that first. Remember, IE7 has no affiliation with OE6, so even if you could remove IE6 and OE6, you would not have any operating version of Outlook Express. Perhaps, without knowing more, you may want to check this out, AFTER you remove IE7 Beta. I wrote you all last week about a huge problem with my OE6. Never was able to fix the corruption. Now, let me ask you this. How can I un-install OE6? I have downloaded & install the IE7Beta3 hoping it might change things but it didn't. Can I use my XP disc to get rid of IE7 & OE6 and let it go back to IE7? Have I just totally confused you? Surely hope not. Thanks again for putting up with me and hopefully helping me out. -- gbodd |
