Default Importing from Outlook

I am trying to help a friend who recently lost a computer due to motherboard
crash. I have gotten all data restored to new computer but have run into a
problem with emails. He originally used Earthlink for his mail. I have
successfully converted all of his Earthlink files in to Outlook. He wants to
use OE as his mail program. When I use the Import from Outlook in the OE
Import/Export Wizard, it completes and says it successfully imported the 440
messages. When I click Finish, there are no messages. I checked the .pst
file for Read Only attribute but it wasn't set. After scanning this group,
that seemed to be the only problem identified so far. Are there any other
suggestions as to what the problem maybe.
Thanks in Advance

Default Importing from Outlook

Is Outlook also installed on this computer, and is the PST file in
question the default one being used by Outlook at that moment. If
Outlook is not installed, the PST file cannot be opened by any other
program such as Outlook Express. Short answer, if Outlook is not also
installed on the problem computer, a PST file is just a useless piece of
junk.

Yes, Outlook is installed and the translated file is fully functional in
Outlook. The actual translation from Earthlink was done by a third party
converter called ABC Amber Outlook Converter. As I said the file is fully
functional in Outlook but when I try to import into OE, the wizard finds the
file, completes the import without error but when finished, there are no
messages in OE. I checked the .pst file for read only but the attribute is
not set.

If it works in Outlook then it should be exportable/importable. I'm not
familiar with the "Earthlink translation" tool you mention so I can't
comment there. I'd suggest having Outlook Open the PST file in question
and leave it running in the background, then also open Outlook Express
and attempt the import then. It should work if the PST file in question
is set in Outlook to be the "default" PST file. For more info about
using Outlook, you might consider posting to one of the following
