I seem to have developed a problem with the various e-mail
accounts in OE. I have 5 accounts, 3 from my ISP and another 2 re-directing to my main ISP account from domain names I own. Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, every time I open an e-mail to reply to it from any of these accounts, the FROM box always reads that it is being sent from one particular account, and not the one I am replying from (if you see what I mean). The result is that I always need to click the drop-down box to select the correct account (to put my default e-mail address in the FROM box). If I don't do this, it always sends from the other one (one of those belonging to my domains). It's as though it's defaulting to one of the secondary e-mail accounts. I have never had this problem before and OE has worked prefectly welll for years. I have no idea why it is defaulting to this particular e-mail address and I definitely don't want it to. I've tried checking all the properties and settings of each account and can't see anything wrong. Would appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions. scot For your corporate event, wedding or celebration get Love n Stuff NOW... before it's too late. http://www.craigwarlow.co.uk |

It sounds like corruption of the Registry.
Export the account settings. You will have to remember the passwords. Create a new Identity. Import the account settings and the emails from the old Identity. -- Ron Sommer "scot" wrote in message ... :I seem to have developed a problem with the various e-mail : accounts in OE. Hi Ron,
"Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... It sounds like corruption of the Registry. Export the account settings. You will have to remember the passwords. Create a new Identity. Import the account settings and the emails from the old Identity. Thanks for that. Do you mind explaining how (and where!) to export the account settings? Also, how to import? Or do you just mean delete them all? I have all the passwords and login information written down. scot |

If you must post identical messages in more than one newsgroup please cross post, i.e. please place all of the newsgroups in the Newsgroup field of one message, separated by commas. That way when someone reads the message in one newsgroup it will be marked as read in all of them. In addition, an answer posted in one newsgroup will generally show up in all of them. This is usually not necessary since most of those who answer posts read more than one newsgroup. Hi again Frank - well, the reason I posted in both of these newsgroups is because I had originally posted in another one and hadn't received any answers. That first one was the ....inetexplorer.-ie6_outlookexpress one, if I recall correctly. So, I then thought the question must have been too difficult for their readers(?) so I tried another two. Yes, well I have replied to your advice on the other newsgroup. What do you think about the reply from the other person here in this one? It may be the registry, though I've tried System Restore and it's still the same. Thanks. scot |
