I accidentally deleted an entire folder in OE instead of deleting just the
single message I had intended. After checking both the web service, and my ISP's own mail client for the folder (no luck), I contacted the ISP, who promised to try to recover it, but it's been over 24 hours since my contact to them--and nothing. Is there a way to get this folder back? |

Good thought Alias. It's not there, but I did find the Outlook Express
folder, and--while the deleted folder doesn't show up by name--it may be in another one of the folders there. What program opens a DBX file? What program opens a DBX file? Only Outlook Express. If the deleted folder isn't there, you'll need to use an extract program like DBXtract. Now you know that back up is a computer user's best friend. A good, free back up for OE can be found at: http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx Alias "--Alias--" wrote in message ... malarkey wrote: I accidentally deleted an entire folder in OE instead of deleting just the single message I had intended. If you are running Win2K, WinXP or Win2K3 then DBXtract will find any messages on the hard drive that have not actually been overwritten. www.oehelp.com -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Reply in newsgroup "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security" |

DBXtract does not have the capability of analyzing the entire hard drive.
Only DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) does this. And it he has an intact dbx file, which seems unlikely, he can manually import it via the method in the last paragraph he www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx , which doesn't require purchasing a 3rd party program. But that is only if the file is not corrupt. steve "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE" wrote in message ... "malarkey" wrote in message ...
