Default Google News Groups

I would like to use OE newsreader to get messages from certain Google Groups
the same as I do on the different groups at msnews.microsoft.com. I have
been unsuccessful to far but I can't imagine it's really that hard. I
guess I need a valid news server (NNTP) address if one exists.

TIA,

Tom

Google Groups is not a usenet provider per se. You can't read Google
Groups from a newsreader.

AFAIK that is not available, Google archives its messages from various
newsservers, you will need to find a server that carries the groups
concerned, and then set it up in OE.
Free newsservers are becoming few and far between of late, in fact I need
one, but have only just realised :-)

"they are free with just a small set up fee" isn't that a contradiction?

No not really, they are free to use as opposed to having to pay a monthly
fee. The setup fee is very small I think it worked out about £2 for me.

Default How to link News Servers, Groups and Messages other than Microsoft?

Thanks all of us for those infos. But please could you give the exact links to those servers and to those newsgroups? as well as the precise and complete way to reach at least a place where they explain how to join the newsgroups?

I too often see an address like "cars.alt.edu" with absolutely no way to know how to reach; any attempt to build a NEWS url fails, any googling never returns a NEWS URL. This for any NGs, not particularly for google NGs.
