There are times spell check does not work when replying or composing emails.
Especially when in times of hurry. You press F7 amd the message displays as Spell Check Is Complete, even if there are still obvious mispelled words. What causes this and how can I rectify it? |

Make sure the cursor is at the end of the new text, and check the options in
Tools | Options | Spelling. Also, a third party program such as OE-QuoteFix can cause this. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "chathp" wrote in message ... What causes this is haste and poor spelling skills. Sorry, couldn't resist. |

If you intersperse your reply with the original message, it won't get
spell checked unless you remove the check mark in Tools, Options, Spelling, Ignore Original Text. With that option selected, it will only spell check text before or after the entire original text. (Note: if you save a message to the Outbox or Drafts and then open it again, OE has lost track of what was original text and will spell check the whole message.) If you are using OE-QuoteFix, all your text gets treated as if it were interspersed with the original, so the above applies or you need to highlight the desired text and do a manual spell check. There is also a bug in OE where if a misspelled word is followed by a period and the cursor is positioned before or after the period, that word does not get checked. Also, if you've previously added a misspelled word to the Custom Dictionary, you'll need to remove it. Select Tools, Options, Spelling, Edit Custom Dictionary. Note that this file must remain in alphabetical order to work properly. Therefore, you should only remove lines via this edit process. Also, if you have inadvertently highlighted a space or other portion of the message, the spell check will only be done on the highlighted portion. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "chathp" wrote in message ...
