Default Putting Them All Back?

I had backed up all of my OE6 accounts, mail, etc so I could wipe my OS
and free it of a virus and some especially tough adware that wouldn't
go. But now that that bit of dirty work is done, can someone tell me
how to re-install all those backed up files? Thanks.

Copy all the dbx files to a blank directory on the hard drive. Then clear
their read only attribute and then use File | Import | Messages in OE and
point to that directory.

Thanks, Steve;

However, that worked with a couple of things but when I tried to get my
news accounts back I was given a amessage about "no other newsgroup
could be found" and OE wouldn't even ask if any files were present
anywhere; same problem in trying to retrieve the mail account. What
went wrong?

OE won't import newsgroups. Their content is considered ephemeral.

As Frank indicates, it won't import NGs. See also point 4 he
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 for message recovery techniques.

The account information is stored in the registry, so it won't import unless
you backup and restore the registry information.

Those import the account settings from an exported IAF file. They don't
import any messages.

Ron said that he "backed up all of my OE6 accounts".
He didn't say how or what he backed up.
