When I begin typing in the address field of a new email in OE6, autofill
takes over with the first letter typed. I am typing in smith (of which I have many in my book) and when I type the comma (as all of the addresses in my book are diplayed as lastname, firstname) it defaults to the S's for the first name, even tho there are A's and H's and so on. How can I get it auto fill starting with A's? Many thanx, Rip |

As far as I know, you cannot do it the way you want. If you ever find a
way to do it, let us all know since many users have asked for a similar feature. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Hi RipperT,
Jim had the answer. A workaround would be to create a text list of the address book entries, use this to create the recipients list, then paste it on the To:, Cc: or Bcc: line. If messages are repeated to a particular group of addresses a shortcut could be used to create a new (pre-addressed) message. I dislike autofill so much that I normally don't use the address book for addressing e-mail. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "RipperT @comcast.net" rippertsmithN_oS_pAm wrote in message ... Thanx for the response. Auto fill is handy in a pinch, but here's what
irritating: when it autofills in Smith, then jumps to, say, L for Lonnie, I back space to get rid of Lonnie, then I type in Amanda (which is in my address book), it will not autofill from there! I leaves whatever I typed, then when I hit send, it stops and asks me which Smith I want to use! And I typed exactly a name from my address book! Argh! Why are you back spacing instead of continuing to type?
Are you saying that you type the last name , then the first name? Duh. That did it. I thought since they displayed as last name first, I had
to enter them that way. I had Amanda Smith in the address book twice (two email addresses) and when I dumped one of them, OE doesn't inquire, it just sends it. Thanx for doing my thinking for me!
