Did you close OE before you tried to shutdown Windows? It's best to
manually close any programs that have files open for updating. Windows will tell the programs to close during shutdown but might not allow sufficient time for them to close their data files. Additionally, OE may be trying to compact folders during OE shutdown. If you force a Windows shutdown during compacting, you can corrupt your mail folders. Starting with XP SP2, OE does a compact every 100 closings. It needs to complete that without interruption. In addition to that, some anti-virus programs set to scan e-mail can prevent OE from closing. As an example, see: MSIMN Is Still Running After You Quit Outlook Express http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=226313 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "deango" wrote in message ...
