... One additional thing, with the latest OE updates, when OE compacts folders, it first copies all your DBX files to the Recycle Bin. That can take a while depending on the number and sizes. You might also use the Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Delete) after closing OE to see if the MSIMN.EXE is going away or how long it takes. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "deango" wrote in message ... Yes Michael, I closed OEX before shutting down. I make it a habit to close all open applications as it expedites 'Turn off computer'. My anti-virus program does not scan for incoming or outgoing Email. I compact OEX weekly with the recommended procedure; click Outlook Express in the Folder tree/close Outlook Express/File/Folder/Compact Folders. When OEX comes up on the 100th closing, there is very little to do. Thanks, This msimn.exe process delay is recent, possibly since an ms update? The download link is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en It places the backup in Recycled, overwriting any earlier backup of the sane folder(s). To use it, copy it to the store folder, delete the one you want to replace and then rename the BAK file to DBX.
