There are some addresses I use frequently, and I have tried to place pre-addressed blank
templates in a directory called "Templates." This is in the hope of double clicking one, typing the message and sending. Concept seems to work except after use the template no longer is in the directory. No surprise, but how could I copy the template to a "new" window and retain the original? Or are there any other gambits to accomplish this? rs |

Create the templates and save them to your Desktop as .eml files. They will
work, however you need this patch: Patch KB918766: http://tinyurl.com/mx3r2 This patch addresses some of the issues that were caused by KB911567. Address Book problems. Unsent templates appearing as sent. Manually compacting will now reset the registry counter to Zero in WinXP/SP2 and also sends a copy of your dbx files to the recycle bin as a temporary backup. To complete the fix for .eml templates, a registry change is needed. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918766 Tom Koch also has this information at his site, along with a downloadable Zip file to do the registry change for you. Thanks, Bruce. Up to now I haven't had a problem with KB918766. But I downloaded the
patch, just in case. Good Idea, saving the templates to desktop; maybe I'll save clutter and put them a toolbar. I spake too soon. Clicking on the .eml file brings it up for reading, not editing.
However, saving the address as mailto: works. rs |

The EML file opening for reading is a known issue. The fix involves not
only installing an update but also a registry fix. You must do BOTH.
