Default Help, OE going haywire

OE has been shutting itself down after it has been open for a bit, then
sending error messages for several days now. Today, after closing WAB I got
the blue screen of death. After reboot, sys scan, it truncated a temp file
h2r239b (or doemthing like that) in the Documents and Settings\user folder.

After reboot, OE started, but would not open Address Book.

I deleted and backed up AB, then opened OE again. Address book was empty, as
it should be, then tried to import saved WAB but failed getting the following
eror message:

"An error occurred during import process. The import process could not be
completed"

Also, recently OE wants to compact messages.

I already checked I had that update (91157? was it?) I do not. Now what?
To retype hundreds of adresses....? ARGHHH

Can I re-install OE? If yes, please let me know how.

BTW: Seems the problems with OE started when I started using IE7

Please help. Thanks to all who are kind enough to respond : )

Addendum:

It seems the Address Book is corrupt as well. This could be the reason for
the error message when trying to import to the new one.

Any ideas how to save the data and restore or move it into another address
book? I want to swoon, just thinking about replacing hundreds of addresses
and other info.

The Windows Address Book (WAB)
http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm
See the notes there on the automatic backup WAB. With luck, that will
be usable.

I'm assuming that you haven't made a manual backup that you could
restore.

Thanks for your reply Michael. I went to the site, but have not found (yet)
how to repair a corrupt address book.

My automatic backup only has the new items in it : (

If anyone knows how to repair a corrupt OE address book, please let me know

Thanks

I don't know of anyway to repair a corrupted address book. But the site
talks about the .WA~ files. OE automatically creates them. If you find
one you can rename it to a WAB file. Hopefully that's not also
corrupted and isn't too far out-of-date.

When did you last check?
My backup is now named Frank.wab~ -
Frank.wa~ hasn't been updated since March.
