You posted the same question over a week ago. Did you see the response
to that?

Here's what I replied to your original message:

"I was just able to Telnet into mail.ev1.net, so the server name is
valid.

If you get that once in a while, it could be a temporary server problem.

You'll also get that error if you don't have an active Internet
connection when you try to download mail.

The curious part is that you say that your mail does download. Look in
OE at Tools, Accounts, Mail. Do you have more than one mail account?
If so, it could be that one is failing and one is working. If you have
a dial-up connection and are not connected to your ISP when you open OE
and one of the accounts is set to dial (Tools, Accounts, Mail,
Properties, Connection) and the other isn't, and OE tries the one not
set to dial first, then you will get that problem."
