Default WiFi ISP - SMTP server problems

Hi, I know that I need to change my SMTP server address for each ISP I use,
but when I am away from my home ISP, I don't know the SMTP server address of
any other ISP that I may be using whilst out and about - is there a way
around ths.
Regards
Kevin

You shouldn't have to? You'd still be using your ISP's email yes? Then the
settings should remain the same no matter where you go though many ISPs
won't let you access your mail via an email client when you're not connected
to their network - due to abuse such as SPAM...

Check with your ISP if you want to - you might be able to do so using
authentication. Otherwise you'll likely need to use their provided web
interface. Just because you're connected via wireless or using a different
ISP doesn't mean the email routes through them - you still connect to their
servers (if they allow you to connect) to send the email. Some ISPs won't
let you connect on the standard email ports, that's another potential
problem. Either way your settings shouldn't really change - it either can't
be done or it can be and that depends on the carrier of your internet signal
and/or your current email provider.

If you are using WiFi, they don't usually have an SMTP mail server of
their own. So they should allow you to use home ISP's SMTP mail server.

The issue will be if you home ISP will allow external access to their
SMTP mail server. See if they support SMTP Authentication. In OE this
is specified in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers, Outgoing
Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication.

In some cases you can use Port 587 or 465 rather than port 25 (specify
in OE at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced). Your ISP is more
likely to allow this port. The SMTP mail server has to support this
port.
