I know a paper refers to an attachment to the right and above the message.
I also have paper clips appearing to the left of emails in the inbox I know they mean they have an attachment but there some emails that don't have attachments and they also show the paper clip. How can I disable the clips from appearing?. |

If the message contains any HTML and you are reading in Plain Text, you will
see the paper clip. Also, if you are using AVG for your anti-virus and have e-mail scanning enabled, that can cause the issue as well. Turn off the e-mail scanning feature. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "SD" wrote in message ... Thanks Bruce. Not reading in plain text. Disabled email scanning, how can I
remove the existing clips. "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... If the message contains any HTML and you are reading in Plain Text, you will see the paper clip. Never tried that before. It *might* work the same as removing normal
attachments, but I'm not sure. Save the message to the Desktop. File | Save as | Desktop | Save. Open it with Notepad. Highlight and delete the attachment and drag the message back to a folder in OE. If you get a lot, this tool does this and more. You might find it worthwhile. OEX: http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx Also, I forgot to add: Reinstall AVG and choose Custom Mode. Uncheck E-mail Scanning when you see that option. For some reason, just unchecking it in the security center causes a conflict with the Windows Security Center. Make sure you reboot when you're done. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "SD" wrote in message ... Thanks Bruce. Not reading in plain text.
