I'm using Outlook Express 6.0 with Windows XP/sp2.I'm getting mail from an
msn customer, and when I click on the attachment and save it all I get is a LOT of symbols and SOME actual dialog. But there is nothing there after that it says sent in MIME version 1.0 and then multi-part message in mime format .. I KNOW he has sent saome funny stuff, but I can't see it.That is happening with everything I get from that person.....whether is has been a video clip, or jpgs, or whatever. How can I see these things? Thanks in advance |

Hi jukeboxjen,
I don't have the complete answer, but can help start the ball rolling. Mime is an Internet standard that makes possible more complex messages beyond simple plain text. Multi-part messages can be broken into smaller messages that must be combined to complete the whole. I don't know if anything is missing from the attachments you are receiving. There is probably something incompatible with his email program, so you are
seeing the full contents of the message including the header information instead of the formatted message. Tell him to send messages as plain text only and see if that fixes it. You can use CTRL-F3 on an open message that might tell you what email program he is using, although given the message you are getting, you probably don't need CTRL-F3. steve "jukeboxjen" wrote in message ... And what is the file extension of the attachment? I'm going to guess
it's .email. A .email (or .ema) or .ezm file is an alternate file extension for an ..EML file. One option is to save the attachment, then rename with an ..EML file name. Or you can create a file association for .email, .ema or .ezm files. You can get to File Associations via: - My Computer - View (Win95/98/NT4/Me) or Tools (Win2000 or WinXP) menu - Folder Options (or Options) - File Types - New Type - New - Action: OPEN The application used needs to be: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /eml:%1 Content Type (MIME) should be: message/rfc822 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "jukeboxjen" wrote in message ...
