Default OE Error Msg

Does anyone know why I keep getting a error msg that says "outlook Express
has encountered a problem and needs to close"?
The error box says:
AppName: msimn.exe AppVer:6.0.2900.2180 ModName: msoe.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2869 Offset: 000ca818
then if I get more info:
C:\Docume~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\36d8_appcompat.txt
I keep getting the last one but with different numerals

Default OE Error Msg

Start he http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown
your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place.

- WinXP SP2 only: If your machine is fully up-to-date at Windows Update,
installing the following patch (KB918766) will help to avoid such data loss
in the futu
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...2-98af2256ccc3

This patch will be included in the next Cumulative Update for Outlook
Express/WinXP SP2.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/directdb.htm

Errors in DIRECTDB.DLL or MSOE.DLL generally indicate corruption in the
message store.
Start by moving Folders.dbx to an empty Windows folder (with OE closed).
Note: the DBX files are hidden in Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3. You will lose
your folder hierarchy and the lists of newsgroups on the news servers, but
it might get you into OE.

If that doesn't do it then move all of the DBX files to the same folder as
Folders.dbx (again with OE closed). You should now get into OE. Try
importing the messages from
the folder you moved the DBX files to. If you can't, you can use this tool
to extract the messages:

DBXtract ($5):
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/

Note: It can take a long time (days with really large folders).

The messages can then be dragged from the Windows folder back into a folder
in an open instance of OE.

Default OE Error Msg

Thanks for the response guys. I did a disc cleanup, ran spyware programs and
virus-scan...all were clean. I defragmented and disabled wormstopper. When I
checked the firewall program permission there were about 20 programs listed
that were greyed out and indicated they were not found but most had full or
outbound access. Most of the programs were also duplicated as good programs.
I deleted the not found programs and have not had the error message since. I
am thinking that may have been the cause???
