Good evening all.
My husband and I have separate computers and both have Outlook Express 6 on our computers. I want to combine our two Outlook Express 6 address books, specifically copying some groups from my computer to his computer. I only have the groups in my address book, no individual contact names but he has many individual contacts. I don't want him to lose those contacts, I just want to add the updated groups to his address book. I know how to export the info to a csv file. The question is will the address books combine or will mine completely eradicate his and replace it with mine? If that happens all his individual contacts are gone and that would not be good . . . Thanks! |

Hi kls,
The data will be added (combined), and there is not a risk of losing your husband's addresses when the file is imported. It would be a good idea to backup his address book first, however, to be able to restore it as it is currently. You could first try exporting your address book as a *.wab file, and then importing from this file in an attempt to preserve the groups. There is also a workaround for preserving groups that involves the use of a non-default WAB file for the manipulation of address book data in CSV format. ------ Use a free standing WAB address book. This is created by entering wab /new in the Start, Run box. Naming the file will open this new address book (*.wab) file. Import the saved file (*.csv). Create a group folder in this new address book. Add the entries from the Contacts folder to the group folder. Open the default (current) address book and import from the WAB file that was just created. ----- More Information http://home.earthlink.net/~kuaytim/exportwab.htm -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "kls" wrote in message ...
