Do the following for the Outbox, and if the problem persists, repeat for Sent Items after you move any messages you wish to save to a local folder you create. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then Start | Run | Ctrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. Hi Bruce Thanks for these details instructions ............ I followed these........... The out box went to the recycle bin and when I opened OE there was hopefully another out box Bruce This email is still in my out mail box but this time it didnt generate an error message ??? Computers can be pesky machines at times ! Bye MargM Sent a test message to myself and the same thing happened . It stayed in the out box but arrived OK in Margs mail box ? and I got the same error message down the bottom on the screen of a little yellow triangle Tried leaving this test message in the out mail box and going thru this procedure again but IT didnt like that ..said was being used by another . So moved my test message out and tried again ............. So now have 2 out mail boxes in the recycled bin and the problem persists . This computer is nearly 4 years old and never had this happen before or with prevous computers ?? Is there something else I can try ? Bye -- MargM Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia |

The process worked doing it 'off line' but tried another test message to myself and had to go on line to send and the problem is still there .....test message stayed in the out mail but popped up in Margs mail box , so sort of duplicated itself And this time I got the little triangle error message again Did you also delete Sent Items with OE closed after moving any messages you want to save to a user created folder? Sorry yourve lost me with that sentence ??.................... If OE is closed you cant do anything ? Can you ? The emails I sent to myself are still in Margs mail box . I just deleted them from the out mail box and they just go into deleted mail so thats not a user created folder Did you turn off e-mail scanning? I use AVG Pro 7.5 ......... Along side email scanning it says ' No plugin active' Sorry I dont know exactly what that means or how to turn off any email scanning it might be doing ?? Its a beatiful sunny afternoon over on this side of the world and I have to go out soon for a few hours so you might not hear back from me till tomorrow morning ESDT Bye -- MargM Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia |

This problem can also be caused by a corrupt Sent Items.

![]() "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... This problem can also be caused by a corrupt Sent Items. Create a new folder and move your messages out of Sent Items. Close OE and delete Sent items.dbx . -- Hi Ronald I just tried this .......Wasnt sure how to move all 1500 sent emails , but I figured it out and all are sitting in a new temp sent emails folder ......phew ! for a couple of seconds I thought I might have lost the lot. Went thru the procedure learnt from Bruce and deleted the sent mail box .............. Since then have sent 4 test emails to myself all 4 behaved as they should So maybe it was a corrupt sent mail box that was causing this problem not the out mail box ? Thanks to all who helped fix this problem ,which I hope stays fixed Bye MargM Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia |
